Choosing the right materials for your oil painting is one of the most important decisions you can make. You will need to invest in good paint, brushes, canvas primer, thinners/solvents for cleaning and some canvas. But how do you know for sure if its good quality? Essentially as there is a learning curve with anything, there is one with using materials for painting. After trying a few things out, you’ll figure out what materials are best for you.

Pick a canvas size that is comfortable with you. Instead of getting a real high quality of product, focus on learning how to paint first. Just make sure that you choose a material that won’t deteriorate quickly in case you happen to love your first painting. The next thing you need to do is prime the canvas for painting with oil.

Brushes are the most important part of painting. I recommend using a hog’s hair brush because they work great with thick paint. The only way to figure out which brush is right for you, just try them out. Don’t forget to pick up some thinner for when you are switching colors to clean out the brushes. And now its time to pick out some paints. Whenever you are buying oil paints, buy quality. Start with the primary colors, red, yellow and blue, and then add to your collection as you go on.

The hardest part about painting is learning the methods, and if you are like 92% of normal people, you can’t afford a tutor or have the time/money to take courses at your local college or trade school. What which are the cheaper and convenient options? A program called Learn & Master Painting by Gayle Levee is designed specifically for at home painters to learn. Imagine being able to learn at your own pace inside your own home? Can you ask your tutor to repeat something over again because you have to take a phone call! The same company that produced this painting program created Learn and Master Ballroom Dance and Learn and Master Piano. How about you just read the review of Learn and Master Ballroom Dance and Learn and Master Piano Review at ReviewMOZ for yourself instead of me telling you about the products.

There is a couple of things about the piano that you can’t just play without, piano chords for example. In this article, we will provide you with some tips on how to learn piano chords easier.

First, familiarize yourself with the piano keys.

Despite the number of the keys on your piano, there are actually only 2 types – the white and the black keys. The white keys are called the natural keys and are denoted by the musical alphabet A to G, while the black keys are the accidental keys which are denoted by the signs b and #. The accidentals are actually the modified versions of the naturals. These produce slightly lower or higher tunes depending on their position relevant to the natural note identified.

In music theory, the black keys have half as high or as low tone as the natural they modify. Once you become familiar with what each of the keys do, you’ll be able to easily manipulate the chords of a specific music.

Second, learn some important terms.

What makes learning piano chords quite difficult, but not necessarily impossible, is the fact that there’s so much to learn before one can actually identify which key goes to which chord. The easiest perhaps is the definition of the word chord itself.

In music, ‘chord’ is defined as any group of notes, usually composing of three or more notes that are played at the same time. Depending on the type of chord, there are several different types including major, minor, and dominant seventh, the notes required could vary in position. This may seem a bit difficult to understand already, but know that it only gets more harder from here. How about familiarizing yourself with the various scales as well as the other rudiments of piano music.

Fortunately, if you have no patience for these things, you can always jump straight to memorizing the notes of each chord.

Third, know the chord formulas.

You don’t necessarily have to remember all piano chords. It is doubtful, in fact, that even the best piano players have these memorized all chords by rote. There are two reasons that make memorizing all chords impractical – first there are hundreds of chords to memorize and second, there are only a few chords that are used on a regular basis.

The best way to know learning all piano chords, therefore, is to know how they are constructed. Yes, there are actually formulas used to construct each chord and formula varies depending on which type of chord is needed.

Major chords, for example, are typically comprised of three to four chords, most commonly three. These follow the formula: root key, 4 halftones and 3 halftones. Note that a halftone is the least possible interval between two notes. This distance is easily identifiable in the piano because, put simply, this is the distance between a white key and the white key beside it, and a white key and the black key beside it or vice versa. To know the key of C Major chord, you need to first identify the root key which is the key of C on any octave, the key four halftones down to its right, and the key three halftones down of the previous key.

You see, if you know some things about these theories, especially with the formula for each chord, it becomes much easier to learn piano chords.

Being musical is a true gift and one that so few people get to experience. Many actually begin to learn to play instruments when they are children but then give it up as they get a little older.

Unfortunately, they also tend to regret it and try learning instruments as they get older. However, as we age we do not seem to pick up learning in the same way as we did when our minds were thirsty so this may make learning to play piano, or for that matter any other instrument, that little bit more difficult.

If you are considering learning piano then the likelihood is that you will get frustrated with all of the resources out there. There are so many to look at but they all tell you something completely different from anything else out there and seem to advocate their ways as the only ways of learning piano.

How to play piano songs is designed to help you quickly and easily to start playing breathtaking piano.

Of course, all of the courses and methods do work for some people but do not work for everyone, which is why you need to be able to choose the best possible options for you. Learning piano is an art and not a race so take your time and choose your best options using the following guide on how to choose the best aid for you:

• Play To Your Strengths – Do you learn better one particular way? When learning piano, all some people have to do is listen to a tune and try to replicate it, whereas others need to see a demonstration or read a manual. You alone know best how you learn so you alone are best placed to find a solution that caters for that. Never be sucked in by promises and offers. The only thing you should assess right from the start is how the program actually works. From there, you can find the best review for you.

• Look At Consumer Reviews – Other people will have tried learning piano with the various programs on offer so make sure that you take a look at their reviews so you can assess whether or not each one is worth the money. Some are bargains but others are a waste of space. Always remember what does not work for one may work for you but bear in mind that you should only take the constructive criticism on board.

• Assess Your Own Level – Are you a beginner at learning piano or have you skills from your childhood? Are you playing for the first time or do you have a good knowledge base that you want to build on? Each program is aimed at a specific level so choose the right one for you so that you can follow it and enjoy!
• Assess Your Affordability – Do not pay more than you can afford for learning piano. It is difficult when you are looking at fantastic promotions and offers, promises that you can learn to play in a few hours and so on. However, you have to make sure that you are within your own price range because until you have it there with you, you never know how good it is going to be.

• Make Sure Your Attitude Is Correct – Are you learning to play piano because you want to? Will you stick to any program that you buy? Are you prepared to commit to it? If the answer to any of these questions is no then you might not be ready to start learning piano just yet. You have to want to commit the time and energy to it or else it will be a waste of money so ask this as a final check before you hit the purchase button!

One of the most valuable stuff that people might pick up from the lessons is to be able to properly read sheet music. There are many musicians on the globe of today that pay no attention to this simple ability. People that want to take playing any instrument seriously should consider how beneficial it would be to master the ability of reading sheet music notation.

Students who are learning how to play piano chords are daunted because of the many things they have to master. Majority of them think that they have to master every note that goes into every chord and there are so many of them and it is multiplied by 12 which represents all the key signatures including the sharps and flats.

Learning these chords is easy if the instructor uses a teaching program that starts with basic music principles. Once the student masters these basic theories, he can play any chord in any key anytime.

The student must learn the scales. This dictates what notes to play in a certain key signature. There are 7 out of 12 notes that are played in C major scale and they are all white keys. Assign numbers to every key in the octave putting 1 for the C key and the C major scale will be played as 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 1. This rule applies to all key signatures for major scales.

What is more, the key of G is played with an G flat. It is between F and G key. The melody of the scales are the same but has a different key when played. F sharp and D flat is contained in D major. You will learn all the major scales if you apply this rule to all the black and white keys. As you go along, the black keys are being more frequently played until every one of them is finally used.

The other scales also apply the same principles using different key numbers. Key number 4 is used instead of 5 in the minor scale. The 7th scale utilizes key 12 instead of higher 1.

Really, after this, the next lessons become much simpler and easier. The key is repetition. Simply put, practice religiously until all scales are mastered. Begin with C major, which is the easiest. Then do the the following major key, which is G, then D and so on. Also learn the major scales in sharps or flats like C sharp major, etc. After you have learned all the scales, study the following scales in minor, diminished, and so on

It is up to the teacher how the lesson flows. Whether to teach all the scales in one key first or start by teaching all the keys in one scale is up to the teacher. Example, study C major first, then Cmin, then C7 then Caug, or the teacher can teach first all the major scales, then the minor scales and so on. One can catually be perceived as the one easier than the other depending on the student.

Indeed, piano chords are more understandable that way. Put it in memory that a chord is 4 or 5 notes of a scale. A major scale has keys 1, 5, and 8 and high 1. For minor chords, it is 1, 4, 8 and 1; and for 7th chords it is key numbers 1, 5, 8 and 12. As a matter of fact, these fundamentals will surely get you to learn how to play piano chords effectively.
